Why we built this

We watched a friend — an experienced recruiter at a Series B startup — spend her entire Sunday reading 300 resumes for a single engineering role. By Monday morning, she'd shortlisted 8 people, but was so fatigued that she knew she'd probably missed someone good.

That moment stuck with us. Not because the problem was surprising — every recruiter we'd ever talked to described the same experience — but because it was so obviously fixable.

The models exist to read resumes intelligently. The technology exists to score candidates against job requirements. What didn't exist was a tool built specifically for recruiters — one that fit into their workflow, explained its reasoning, and didn't require weeks of setup.

So we built Meritly AI.
